What is community solar?

Community Solar lets many households share the benefits of one solar array, usually located in a field, on a large rooftop, or in another shared community space. Instead of installing panels on your own home, you subscribe to a portion of the energy produced by the project. The electricity generated by your share is credited to your utility bill, helping offset what you pay for energy.

Step 1

You subscribe to one of our Community Solar Gardens and become a member owner of the cooperative. A one-time $25 membership fee applies.

Step 2

You now own a portion of the energy produced by that solar garden. Based on the energy produced and your subscription size, you get 10-20% savings on your electricity costs.

Step 3

Your utility pays you the value of the solar energy generated from your subscription in the form of a monthly bill credit, helping offset your energy costs.
